Hi-fi

adjective; zero derivation
Something of high quality; Something special; Something complicated (often technically).(“Don’t use such Hi-fi words with me) (“That new TV of yours is pretty Hi fi ). Here the protagonist in the song is saying that he is an ordinary guy. There is nothing extraordinarily special about him. This meaning comes from the idea that when Hi-fi audio systems were first released many years ago, they were big step-up in terms of sound quality (compared to the type available at that time) and were quite expensive. Since then the term Hi-fi began to be associated with anything special, extraordinary, expensive or complicated (since many people were clueless as to how these systems worked).

I ain’t no macho man, I ain’t no Hi-fi.
Source : from the song Kya Soorat Hai an original song by Bombay Vikings. The song was released in 1997.
