Diaper Dandies

adjective; compounding
Term categorizing young professional athletes who are exceptionally talented. (“Carolina has turned out quite a few diaper dandies this year”) This is a clever way to young professional athletes who have proved themselves very early in their career. The ‘Diaper’ part of the phrase characterizes the very young age of these athletes and ‘Dandies’ is a reference to their exceptional talent (possibly drawing from the fact that they are ‘fine and dandy’). In this particular instance the quizmaster was telling the participants that the next round of questions would pertain to such sportspeople.

The category is diaper dandies.
