cyberchondriac

A blending of the words "cyber" and "hypochondriac," a 'cyberchondriac' is someone who convinces themselves that they suffer from a particular disease (or diseases) based solely on medical information gleaned from the Internet. Cyberchondriacs usually spend a significant amount of time researching their real or imagined symptoms on online medical websites.
 
"I've spent the last hour on WebMD looking up all my symptoms. I think I'm turning into a cyberchondriac."
Etymology : A blending of 'cyber,' an element of word formation related to technology or the internet; and 'hypochondriac,' an individual who suffers from hypochondrias, an excessive preoccupancy or worry about having a serious illness.
