Rat-pushing

analogy; compounding; verb
In video games in which objectives need to be captured, refers to the act of slowing whittling down multiple objectives over time instead of trying to capture one objective all at once.

"Wow, what is this rat-pushing? We can't be at all the points at the same time."
Etymology : Rat from Old English ræt "rat", perhaps from Vulgar Latin *rattus. Push from Old French poulser, from Latin pulsare "to beat, strike, push". When used together, is used metaphorically to describe when rats slowly eat away a house or food storage, causing small amounts of damage which accumulate over time.
