A shorthand reference to "ethyl alcohol," the type of alcohol that is used in beverages for recreational consumption. Most commonly referenced in common speech by those in academic research and the health professions when referring to laboratory use or personal substance use.
 
"I don't know what that guy's thinking, but he's definitely got way too much EtOH on board."
Etymology : Novel creation from "Et-," the shortened form of ethanol (the IUPAC term for the substance with structure CH3CH2OH), affixed with "-OH," which refers to any alcohol due to the inclusion of a hydroxy group in its chemical structure.
