twanger

noun;
remote control, specifically one for a TV This word originated in my family, mid-late 1980s – I learned this word as a young child because my family used it all the time to describe the TV remote, but didn’t realize it wasn’t an actual word until my freshman year of high school when I referred to “the twanger” around my friends. Needless to say, they looked at me like I had five heads. It’s not really a “new” word since my family’s been using it for almost 20 years, but it certainly isn’t documented anywhere in a dictionary, so I figured it’d be okay to use here.

Pass me the twanger - this show's terrible!
