Suck-up

noun; slang
The act of trying to get ahead by doing anything. Usually looked down upon because he/she is acting like a slave.
 
Those kids are all suck-ups. They’re all volunteering to take notes for the teacher.
Etymology : A metaphor for sucking, like attaching. Suck-ups are the noun form used to describe individuals who enjoy attaching to things to excel in their environment.
