negatize

transitive verb; derivation
To make a number that was formerly positive, or formerly positive negative, flipping its sign. Distinct from "negate" as "negate" could possibly also mean in this context "to make zero," a meaning that "negatize" does not have

"We thought we were struggling until we realized that our signs were wrong for our currents, so we just negated them and everything came out okay." "Negate? Oh, you mean negatize!"
Etymology : "negate" (to nullify or make negative in meaning) + "-ize" (to treat like something specified)
