Etymology : Blend of internet and nest. Internet "the linked computer networks of the U.S. Defense Department," shortened from internetwork, from inter- + network. Nest Old English nest "bird's nest, snug retreat," also "young bird, brood," from Proto-Germanic *nistaz, from PIE *nizdo-, probably from *ni "down" + *sed- "to sit."
