Filet

noun
Something that is made to look very appealing as a trap to do something that will ultimately fail. A trap. This is a metaphor based on filet being something that is exquisite and desirable, except it is meant to be too good to be true, so that many people would choose to avoid it when faced with it.

“I can’t believe he fell for it!” “ I gave him that filet!”
Etymology : Filet Mignon is a French loanword that was found in English as early as 1815. (etymonline)
