Wassup

220; blending and clipping
Hi, hello, or what is going on? It is a way of asking how a person is or what someone is doing. Possible reason used: It is an informal greeting used among friends. It arises from a blending of the words WHAT’S UP into one word. This greeting suggests familiarity with the people to whom you are speaking with. This greeting would not be used in formal settings with strangers or in the business world. Perhaps the use signifies the relaxing of the rules of formality to make a statement.

Wassup guys?
Etymology : Derivation by clipping and blending the WASS- from WHAT’S + UP, there is also a change of spelling by deleting the H and adding in an extras S to the first part of the word
Source : Spoken by a friend in greeting
