Grunt-grunts

noun; sound symbolism
Extremely loose bowel movements or diarrhea, both of these conditions might cause you to grunt with pain. Possible reason used: A colorful way to describe the results of diarrhea. Perhaps also euphemistically used to cover the taboo subject of bowel movements. The use of the word is meant to provoke a vivid mental picture by association with sounds to represent a taboo subject. The use to the term also evokes a comical response from the listener because the majority of the time people laugh at others’ minor misfortunes.

If you drink water contaminated by Giardia, you will come down with the grunt-grunts.
