rap god

compounding; noun
Term some use to describe the hip-hop artist Eminem, and the legacy that he carries. Eminem has been, along with artists such as Jay-Z and Kanye West, at the forefront of modern rap music since the 1990's. The songs he releases are often hits that the public adores. He is considered by some to be a god among men, at least in the rap game, anyway.

"Eminem is totally a rap god, Jeff. Every album he's had since Rebirth has been certified platinum!"
Etymology : Rap god is a combination of the words "rap" and "god". The word "rap" loosely derives from Black English rap "to talk about informally". The word "god" comes from Old English god "supreme being, deity; the Christian God; image of a god; godlike person," from Proto-Germanic *guthan. The combination of these words "rap" and "god" signify the status in the rap industry of the person who is being referred to as a rap god.
