Parthenogenesis

Development of an egg without fertilization with sperm.
 
In Bdelloidea, all females undergo parthenogenesis and produce diploid eggs that hatch into diploid females.
Etymology : Gr. partheno- ‘virgin’ + genesis ‘origin or source’
