to act or dress in a manner that flaunts ones positive attributes in order to attract a mate
 
The term is most commonly used to males that act or dress outrageously to gain attention from their female counterparts. Peacocking can also be used in other contexts to describe one that desires attention from everyone without regards to gender or sexual desires.
Etymology : metaphor of the act of male peacocks flaring their colorful feathers to attract female peacocks
