Splendivorous

adjective; blending
Wonderful, beyond imagination. Usually pertaining to food. See ‘splendiferous’. Apparent meaning: more than splendid, increadible; spoof on splendiferous; splendid + omnivorous; changed into meaning 'more than splendid'; pertaining to food: “Splendivorous meal!”; indicates anticipation of very good food. Possible reason used: We were very happy and having a wonderful time on vacation. We wanted to describe how happy we were and the common adjectives did not seem powerful enough; they are used too much to really have any punch. So while joking around, we made up a new word. The word not only represents the meanings of the words that make up the blend, it also represents how much fun we were having while we were making up the word. Then the meaning morphed into an inside joke in order to give it even more power and meaning to us, while also keeping the original meaning. It was also a product of miscommunication because I was saying “splendiferous” and my cousin heard the homophone “splendiverous”.

That meal was just splendivorous!
Etymology : Blend formed from splendid and omnivorous.
