thirsty(1)

adjective; derivation
referring to an individual who is seeking a non-specific hook-up, and usually sexually deprived.

Thirsty is typically used by people who go to parties since that is typically the location where people are seen to be and can be described as thirsty. Thirsty usually comes with a more neutral connotation in comparison to similar words like slutty because thirsty comes with a connotation of temporary as opposed to the label and permanence that comes with words like slutty. Additionally, thirsty can refer to anyone of any gender or sexuality. There are two ideas on the origin of thirsty. One, thirsty comes from metonymy as people used it to refer to someone who desired sex and sexual fluids. The desire for sexual fluids became associated in time or space with the seeking of sex. Two, thirsty is a metaphor that likens the desire and seeking of sex to the desire and seeking of water when thirsty. In reality, components of both origin ideas probably contributed to the meaning. Example: This party is a sausage fest – so many thirsty dudes.
Etymology : Thirsty is a derivation and alternate meaning of the word thirsty. Thirsty is formed from the root thirst and adjective modifying affix –y.
