- "AF" is used after an adjective for emphasis. It is very often used after adjectives with negative connotation, i.e. "ugly AF", "cold AF", "hard AF", etc. It is sometimes used with positive descriptors, i.e. "fly AF", "tasty AF", etc., although less often. Rarely, if ever, is "AF" used with words that belong in a more formal or educated context - one would never hear "pedantic AF" or "superfluous AF".
