bb (2)

noun; other word formation type Initialism
baby; a term of endearment for a person of whom one is deeply fond

The term bb is an initialism for the word baby. It is used similarly to how baby, a name of endearment, would be used. It is almost exclusively used over text, social networking and other informal written language, but it is possible for it to be occasionally heard in spoken language. Like most text lingo, this term was formed because it shortens the word. Unlike baby however, bb is more commonly used as a term of endearment among friends rather than lovers.
Etymology : The term bb is an initialism using the first letter, b, from each syllable in the word baby.
