Penngineer

blending Noun
A student at the University of Pennsylvania’s engineering school

The University of Pennsylvania is often referred simply as ‘UPenn’ or ‘Penn’. Similarly, this clipping can also be used to refer to specific aspects of the school. In this case, the university refers to its engineering program as ‘Penn engineering’. This phrase can be blended to ‘Penngineering’ to sound shorter and more catchy. Students who participate in the ‘Penngineering’ program are known as ‘Penngineers’. It should be emphasized that ‘Penngineer’ is not an official term and it is not used by the university. In fact, I have never heard anyone else use this word other than myself, but I strongly believe in this word’s ability to establish itself in the English language. In my humble opinion, ‘Penngineer’ makes more sense and sounds more phonetically pleasing than ‘Penn engineering’, thus the two words should be blended together. I hope that others will catch on and begin using this term in the future.
Etymology : A blend between ‘Penn’ from ‘University of Pennsylvania’ and ‘engineer’
