Etymology : “Sauce” has undergone semantic change from meaning a liquid topping added to savory dishes to mean the quickness and agility to avoid someone on a football field. It is possible that this occurred because sauce is smooth just like the ability to juke someone out although it is unclear where the meaning actually came from.
