Kawhilights

blending Noun
Sports highlights featuring San Antonio Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard

Because Kawhi Leonard is the Spurs’ star player, he gets a particularly high amount of screen time. Thus, much of the team’s highlights consist of his plays. At some point, the Spurs decided to separate his highlights from the rest of the team. It is only natural for Kawhi Leonard’s (whose first name rhymes with Hawaii) highlights to be called Kawhilights. The term is mostly used by and likely originated from the Spurs organization itself. It does not seem to be used as much by fans, although they could use it just as easily. Because this term is specific to one particular person, it is not very commonly used, and only a limited audience would be exposed to it. The word is unlikely to last longer than a few years because Kawhi Leonard will eventually retire, meaning there will be no more highlights and thus no use for the word. ‘Kawhilights’ could also be considered an eponym since the word was derived from a person’s name.
Etymology : Blend between Kawhi Leonard’s first name and ‘highlights’
