Queering
verb; derivation
To apply queer theory (to a work). Queer used to be a derogatory word for homosexuals, but has been taken on by the LGBT community as a positive word. Queering entails looking at works with sexuality, gender, and LGBT issues in mind in order to reshape and reevaluate history. Traditionally, history has been written by those in power, so queering is used to look at the stories of the marginalized. This word is very common in the field women and gender studies.
