Tu

verb; acronym
Stands for ‘Turn up’ and is used to indicate a desire to increase the current level of excitement in a crowd.

This is pronounced as each of the individual letters (tee-you) and the phrase it stands for, turn up, is related to the action of turning up the volume of the music that is being played as a metaphor for increasing the energy at a party. The term is used widely from a semi-congratulatory phrase in reaction to a cool story or to indicate the act of getting drunk or the intention of drinking later in the night. The phrase may also take some inspiration from the phrase ‘bottoms up’ in that you are turning up the bottoms of your cups while drinking. This phrase also inspires the term ‘turnt’ as in you have gotten turnt meaning you have already turned up.
Etymology : Formed by taking the first letters of the verb ‘turn’ and the adverb ‘up’
