Caleavefornia

noun; blending blending of California and leave
California withdrawing from the United State. Probably inspired by “Brexit”, referring to the U.K.’s withdrawal from the European Union, some Californian started to use this word on Twitter to suggest a California secession from the United State. This word was coined during the summer 2016, but became once again popular after the 2016 election.

Louis Marinelli, who heads the Yes California Independence Campaign, (said) “We have a lot of people who have joined our Facebook page, a lot of people who are talking about this issue on Twitter. The #Calexit hashtag for example has begun organically. There’s another one called #Caleavefornia.”
