pronoun novel creation
A pronoun used by individuals who do not fall on the binary scale of sexuality and gender. Thus, meaning the individual does not identify with male or female. Sometimes this group is referred to as non-binary.
 
A relatively new pronoun that has emerged during the gay rights movement. Proponents of these pronouns use them instead of he/she/I, unless that person has specified his or hers specific gender.
Etymology : Emerged somewhere in the 20th century.
