Slut-Shaming (2)

verb; compounding
: The action of shaming a person or group for what you deem slutty, or overly sexual.

Slut-shaming is self-explanatory. A slut is someone who is over sexual. Shamming involves trying to make them feel bad for being over sexual. The –ing at the end of shamming means ‘the action is being taken place’. Use of this term is tricky and can be very insulting, because sexuality is considered a social construct and can differ between cultures.
Etymology : Slut in the 1400 meant ‘a dirty, slovenly, or untidy woman’. Share similar dialect to German schlutt meaning ‘slovenly woman’. Shame is a verb first appearing in Old English as scamian meaning ‘ashamed, blush, feel ashamed’. With the addition of –ing which changes the definition to causing shame.
