Adjective used to describe the facial expression of someone who is skeptical.
 
Skeptical Hippo was a meme that circulated on social media websites. In the picture is a hippopotamus in the water, staring off into the distance with squinty eyes. Shortened version of the metaphor, Hippo-eyes came to represent the expression shown by the hippopotamus memes.
Etymology : hippo-, shortened version of hippopotamus in 1872, came from the Greek meaning ‘horse’. Eye is a noun from 1200 c. Old English, ege (Mercian), eage(West Saxon) which means aperture, hole, or eye.
