- Used to describe something someone was going to use/wear but never got around to it. Word probably coined to describe that hopeful feeling behind people buying clothing that they never end up wearing. The word ‘aspirational’ gives the word a wistful feeling or sense of unfulfilled ‘dreams’, since most of the time the item is never used. “Overwhelmingly, people say, yeah, they have bought things that they have felt were aspirational purchases.”
