lit (5)

zero derivation; adjective
Used to describe parties or events, and means fun and highly attended.

The idiom ‘get lit’ is an intoxicated or euphoric description for proceeding actions that are induced by alcohol or a drug. As this usually happens at parties, lit was reanalysed to describe parties where people “get lit”. The definition was later extended to also mean awesome, extremely good, and/or exciting. People often use ‘lit’ as a response in the same contexts they would use ‘awesome’ when they’ve been given good news.
