- People use ‘hype’ to describe fun events or activities. Usually it is not used to describe people. Hype events are usually well-attended, popular events that many people look forward to going to and have a great time in. Hype is also used as an interjection in response to good news and used in similar contexts in which one would use ‘awesome’ or ‘sounds really great’.
