- "Gaining” is a common term in the powerlifting community to refer to bulking up in weight. Gains then generically became a term to describe all sources of food consumption to aid in muscle recovery. “Did you get enough gains on your plate today from the servery? That whole plate of chicken may not be cutting it…”
