fantods

noun; clipping
a state of mental disturbance and unrest

this word uses a strange collection of sounds to represent an upset or a scare. The “fant” may come from “fantasy” to express a similar idea to being “scared out of one’s mind”. The similarity in sound to “phantoms” suggests a fright as if by a ghost.
Etymology : made up word, possibly related clipping of “fantasy” for the “fant-” element
