Softlifting
verb blend
Purchasing a single license copy of a software program and illegally installing it onto multiple computers.
Etymology : A blend of “software,” the programs that run on a computer, and “shoplifting,” the act of stealing from a store. Used in the context of piracy, which is essentially stealing, but from a digital instead of physical store. This company may have created a catchy-sounding blend in order to attract the attention of younger people, who are more likely to be computer savvy and know how to pirate software.
