Poggers

adjective; derivation; Reanalysis
awesome; very cool (and rare)

This term is in part a reference to a game, called ‘Pogs,’ that elementary and middle school students played in the 19990s. The game, which the kids thought was very fun, resulted in its name being associated with other things that were also fun to do. After this, the word ‘Pogs’ underwent change in form as well as in morphology until its new form, ‘poggers’ meant something awesome without any further reference to the game. This word is typically found in the gammer subcommunity, particularly in individuals that were approximately 10 to 15 years old during the mid 1990s.
Etymology : this word is formed by reanalysis and derivation: ‘Pogs’ (a game played in the 1990s) + ‘er’(adj forming suffix) + ‘s’(plural ending? uncertainty in usage; perhaps added for phonological reasons)
Source : While my roommate was playing Fortnite, I heard some other people through the open voice chat say, “that was poggers!” They said this after my roommate had just jumped off a building and eliminating someone while falling, something that is rather difficult to do.
