Gram

noun
The parts of the internet (especially social media) that are primarily associated with braggadocio and/or materialism. Primarily associated with the social media platform Instagram, where people frequently document the best parts of their lives in order to inspire envy in others, or in order to boost their own self esteem at the expense of others.
 
“Shreyas uploads photos of his expensive jewelry to Facebook and Instagram just to flex on the gram.” “The only reason Sonia tweeted out her grades were for the gram.”
Etymology : First, clipping “Gram” of the social media platform “Instagram.” Metonymic shift of “gram” from Instagram to the parts of Instagram associated with braggadocio and materialism. Finally, metonymic shift to anywhere on the internet where wealth or accomplishments are flaunted, such as on one’s Twitter, Facebook, or Whatsapp accounts.
