Vlog (2)
noun; blending
A video blog documenting the daily life of someone, usually posted on a pre-determined, regular basis.
Etymology : “Vlog” is a blend of “video” and “blog,” where the “v-” of video has combined with the “-log” of blog. Blog itself is a clipped blend of “web” and “log,” so “weblog” became “blog,” a clipping that occurred sometime in the 1990s. The difference between “vlog” and “blog” is that a blog is a public diary posted online that is purely text-based, whereas the idea of a vlog came about due to changes in technology where access to video cameras became more wide spread (such as on smartphones) and making videos became a much simpler task. The ability to document your life, reviews of products, or tutorials through the video format became much more popular and an easier way for an influencer or vlogger to build their fanbase and promote their brand.
