Jersey

A particular kind of sport clothing.

The name of the particular company production (originally coming from the name of the state - because of the location) later on widened the meaning for all similar sportswear. Therefore, we have the following chain: (New) Jersey (state) - Jersey (Uniforms) (company) - jerseys (the production of JU) - jerseys (all similar kinds of stuff).
Etymology : This word is derived from the name of a sports clothing company “Jersey Uniform” (Linden, NJ).
