- With LGBTQ+ issues being discussed more frequently, one of the issues being addressed is referring to someone with the proper pronouns. However, that phrase is long and clunky, and to use the word “pronoun” as a verb conveys the same meaning without the mouthful. Nevertheless, the word is most commonly used by those who are a part of or allies to the LGBTQ+ community, as people opposed to LGBTQ+, and specifically the trans, community are certainly less likely to adopt a word that helps trans people.
