- This term is nonce word that will likely not catch on widely, but it is slang and can be used casually and humorously to describe someone or something with integrity.
Integrous
other word formation type noun
someone who has integrity, or an action that shows integrity
Etymology : In attempting to come up with the adjectival form of integrity, before realizing that there isn't one, I added the adjectival ending “ous” to the root of integrity. The word integrity itself comes from Latin integritas, which meant wholeness or correctness, through the Old French integrite. The root of this, integer in Latin, comes from in (not) + tag (touch) which comes from the PIE tag (touch), so literally meaning untouched.
Source : Said by me, December 2019: “wow, she is so integrous. I don’t think that’s a word. She has so much integrity.”
