f

interjection other
A phrase used to show your respect by acknowledging that something bad or annoying happened to someone.

The term is most commonly used by people in the online gaming and streaming community. It originates from the PC version of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, where in a funeral scene you are prompted to “Press F to pay respects”. This led to the term being used widely across video game streaming chats. Most often people would say it when the streamer’s character died in the game or if something bad happened in general. Now, people also use it outside of gaming context to give someone condolences when something bad happens. Example: - “Guys, I just dropped my phone and the screen is shattered” Everybody in the group chat: “f”
