Palabra

220;
word, as in an informal way to express agreement. The student who says this is the only student who says it and I highly doubt it will spread. It's mostly a joke because palabra does mean word in Spanish but does not have the same connotation at all. It's significant that the word developed in Texas, where most people have at least a limited grasp of Spanish and are able to recognize the meaning of the word and appreciate the humor.

Palabra.
Etymology : Direct borrowing from Spanish of palabra meaning word.
