Howies

noun; clipping; derivation (Affixation)
An abbreviated form of “Howitzers.”

The word was used to refer to Howitzers from the video game Forts RTS. I think that the word is probably slang used to refer to Howitzers in general not just in Forts RTS. The word was probably made by taking a clipping of “Howitzers” and adding the suffix -ie, an alternate for of -y, a diminutive suffix such as in “Jonny” and “puppy.” The word was then made into a plural form by adding the plural suffix -s.
Etymology : Clipping of “Howitzer” plus -ie, alternate form of -y, a diminutive suffix, plus the plural suffix -s (etymonline).
