oneitis55

other word formation type noun
A condition, where an individual is so absolutely enraptured with one single person, to the point of obsession. The -itis suffix on the word is not to be taken completely literally, as it tends to relate to diseases involving inflammation, but rather is simply used an umbrella term for a medical problem. The one- that begins the word is simply a word from English meant to emphasize the singularity of the afflicted’s affection. Those who suffer from oneitis tend to idealize the other party so excessively that, to the afflicted, it can feel as if their love interest can do no wrong. The condition is also commonly associated with unreciprocated affection from the other party involved, with the obsessive tendencies of the afflicted many times contributing to this. The person of interest to the afflicted is many times also referred to as the oneitis of the patient.

The severity of ‘oneitis’ depends on a variety of factors: how long the afflicted has had ‘oneitis,’ how poorly the afflicted is treated by the other party, whether there are effects on the afflicted’s everyday life due to the condition, etc.
Etymology : Affixation formed from the English word/root one and the suffix -itis.
Source : “[Oneitis] is ruining my life. I just can't find a girl that's better than her. Everything reminds me of her. I don't even ask out other girls, because I feel they're so inferior to her.” - Kalazu, sufferer of ‘oneitis,’ and frequenter of forum.bodybuilding.com, September 2017
