redpill

verb Compounding
To make someone come to believe in politically conservative positions

The term most likely comes from a scene in the movie The Matrix in which the main character is given the choice between a red and a blue pill, the former representing awakening to an unpleasant reality. Moreover, the color red happens to represent the Republican Party in the United States. To redpill someone, then, implies that moving over to a conservative mindset is the same as coming to understand true reality.
Etymology : Compounding of red and pill
