- This term takes an already established word and gives it a new semantic meaning. “BBQ-ing,” which can refer to someone performing the action of cooking barbecue, can also now refer to someone “grilling” another about a specific topic. This term also serves as nearly a synonym to “mansplaining,” but with a larger population available to be an offender of this action.

When someone questions another person about the scope of their knowledge of a particular interest, testing them to see if they are real supporters of that interest. Similar to “mansplaining” but can be performed by any gender.
