BBQ-ing

verb; analogy
When someone questions another person about the scope of their knowledge of a particular interest, testing them to see if they are real supporters of that interest. Similar to “mansplaining” but can be performed by any gender.

This term takes an already established word and gives it a new semantic meaning. “BBQ-ing,” which can refer to someone performing the action of cooking barbecue, can also now refer to someone “grilling” another about a specific topic. This term also serves as nearly a synonym to “mansplaining,” but with a larger population available to be an offender of this action.
Etymology : “BBQ” shortened version of barbecue + -ing suffix to make a verb
