Attempting to appear endearingly cute through immature behavior, particularly as a way to deflect criticism or blame. This term, which arose from the reading aloud of the emoticon ‘uwu,’ is pronounced /’u wu/. The emoticon may have originally demonstrated happiness or cuteness, but it has undergone pejoration and now has a range of connotations including cheekiness and smugness.
