- Lovett is one of the residential colleges at Rice University. Over the summer of 2020, someone started using ‘Vett as a shortened form of Lovett. Since it is a clipping, the ‘Vett and Lovett have the same end spelling, but they sound different which may be part of the reason it has not been used before. It is used by some when referring to Lovett with other Lovetteers, since most people have not heard it.
