Zoomies

noun; derivation Affixation
Students who attend a hybrid class on Zoom rather than in person.

Usually used in the plural. The singular would probably be “Zoomie” or “Zoomy,” a diminutive form of “Zoom” to indicate that the person is talking about a person who appears on Zoom. Not sure exactly why the form is diminutive, except perhaps for the fact that it’s more fun to say. This is similar to the etymology of “yuppie.”
Etymology : The “-ies” suffix added to the name of the application “Zoom.”
