Cyber Monday

noun; compounding
The Monday that follows Thanksgiving. Merchants traditionally regard the Friday after Thanksgiving as Black Friday, since people all go out and shop. The coinage of the word Cyber Monday is a marketing campaign to promote online shopping. The reason why it is Monday, not Friday or Saturday may be that people do shop online and place orders over the weekend, but most orders are processed on the following Monday when workers return to business and actually deduct money from credit card accounts and ship the products. The statistics would then reflect that most online revenues are generated on Monday.
